double date

so in the interest of following through on my recently declared goals, i had an appointment with a new chiropractor today. she specializes in SI joint injury and comes highly recommended by the woman who runs my new running group. i’ve also contacted a new realtor to look at making one more attempt to sell my house. and i’ve researched renting in more detail. oh and i also have two dates this weekend 😉 when i set goals, i aim to keep them!

honestly dating is not something i enjoy. maybe by date three or four once some of the pretenses are let down and the comfort level improves, but it’s been a long time since someone has intrigued me enough to even make it to date three! and jc doesn’t count given we were already friends before we dated. but i’m strangely looking forward to both of these dates.

tonight is barney. no not his real name. i always use pseudonyms to protect the innocent ~ and the guilty ;). it’s a reference to the show how i met your mother though he really isn’t like barney. just kind of looks like him ~ cute! i decided to try the online thing again and have actually been talking to him for about a month but with holiday chaos and our busy schedules we haven’t had time before this to actually meet. he’s 37. divorced. three kids. a master of sarcastic wit that keeps me cracking up with our back and forth text banter. date one plan is an irish pub. casual atmosphere. dinner. drinks. live music.

tomorrow is the cadet. a west point grad that a friend has been trying to set me up with for about a year but the timing was always off. no kids. not sure about ex-wives but without kids those shouldn’t play a role anyways (hahaha). he has a fabulous career. runs (though not as long distances as i do). he’s easy to talk to. sweet as can be. and though i have no idea where he is taking me, i have a feeling i will be wined and dined in style.

strangely both lived in DC and barney actually worked in the same mall i did in the early 90s! quite possible we may have at some point spoken since he worked at hagen daaz which is an addiction of mine. hagen daaz coffee ice cream. heaven. and the cadet apparently used to do the irish run i do every other tuesday. so no doubt we were at the same place at the same time many a night and never met. funny how small a world it really is and how sometimes fate misses a moment that it then finds a way to grab hold of at another time.

anyway, who knows if fate had a hand in any of this or if i simply made the decision to open myself up to the possibility of maybe. but either way i’m going to simply keep an open mind, enjoy and try to remember how to juggle!

I agree on the dating front – once it’s at that comfort stage it just feels so much more real. But amazing you have a 2 date weekend and such a great attitude about it all. I can’t wait to hear about them!!! 🙂

This sounds awesome. I’m secretly (actually it’s not a secret at all) jealous.

However, just because of free food. I am like you and find it hard to enjoy first dates. They are just not comfortable. But can be fun with the right person.

Definitely interested in how it goes!
