i had another decent week. i would have liked to get in one more mid-week run but it just didn’t happen. i did, however, nail my 400s on monday. i’ve always done speed work better on the tread for some reason and this week was no exception. i had only planned to do four at that pace but felt strong enough to throw in a fifth so i took it. tomorrow morning b3 and i are doing intervals together. it will be interesting to see if i can hit them that perfectly outside and if running with someone will push me even harder. it feels good to be doing “real” workouts again. i’m starting to get the itch to really train for something and though i’m still going to play gasparilla by ear right now, i think i want to pick another marathon to work towards. i just have to decide if i feel i can manage something by spring or if i need to push things out to next fall which would mean summer training again (ugh).

so i mentioned the other day that i went to a new chiro on friday. i really liked her and it feels good to hear another person other than my ortho say that my last chiro was insane for suggesting that the low grade spondy was the cause of my pain and would likely sideline me for good. she said my si joint and hip joint were out of whack and she was able to adjust them both, but now we just need to figure out why. her comments and insight on my alignment and weight bearing issues were very similar to LJs thoughts that it’s my foot and/or ankle. one thing that i loved is that she actually WANTED me to go out and run the next day. if, when i go back this week, the hip and si are out again, then there is something happening when i run. if not, then possibly it was the car accident. she also did a thing called graston technique around my hip and si joint and next visit will likely focus on my ankle. i can’t say i’ve been pain free since seeing her. but i do think i feel less discomfort.

i’m going to try and start increasing my mileage back up a little. and speed work once a week is back to stay! i also am finally going to start breaking in my vibrams. i actually took back the ones i posted about before because they never felt truly comfortable and i bought a different model ~ the bikilas ~ and i love the way they feel. so it’s time. and we got sab new running shoes and are ready to get her back in training for her next 5k. it finally feels like we’re not just going forward but running forward!
