thursday 10 mile bike ride solo + 4 mile run ~ island with newB
saturday 8 miles ~ the flats ~ with sab biking

i’m getting closer to where i want to be with my routine. i still need to crack down and add yoga and/or pilates to keep working on the hip/si joint issues but i’m slowly feeling more in control of things again.

with my insanity now focused on doing a half ironman for my 40th birthday, i figured it was time to start putting together the swim the bike the run. i can do all three. but doing all three together is a whole different ball game. i know we’re talking about an entire year out but i suppose it might be somewhat intelligent for me to tri something sooner. a sprint maybe. olympic at some point. steps before i leap.

thursday i had a rare evening. no sab. no hunter. i could have filled it with many. friends i miss. excuses i make. but i opted for a date with the island. first by bike. then by foot. my first real attempt at a brick. i rode alone but newB joined me for the run and if it wasn’t for her i likely would have quit sooner than i did. i know they say it’s weird at first. hard for the legs to go from one to the other. and it was. we had to walk some of the four. my jello legs simply didn’t quite function the way i wanted them to. but tough as it was. strange as it felt. i did it.

the weekend was great. not just because i actually managed to get in some sort of workout both days, but because i included sab in both! saturday the nyc girl and her son joined us at the flats. they all rode. i ran. then sunday sab popped in and out of the pool as i did laps. and all in all she did close to a quarter mile on her own. not all at once. breaks here and there but still. no play. no paddle. serious stroke and hard work. maybe i’m raising a little triathlete after all 🙂
