i thought tennis was a game of love

last week rocked. tuesday a three mile run followed by an intense power yoga class. wednesday a three mile run in my vibrams. friday pilates plus a half mile swim. saturday a strong eight mile run and sunday an 18 mile bike/4 mile run brick. boo-yeah! pretty much my perfect week! finally!

and then monday it all came crashing down. or at least i did … literally. playing tennis with the hunter, first game, first set. i was running for a ball and heard ~ and sure felt ~ something pop in my calf. i went down hard. the pain intense. any attempt to hobble off the court was in vain and in the end the hunter had to carry me. a lot of ice, advil and 48 hours later, i’m thankful to report that i think i’ll live. and a visit to LJ yesterday left me feeling optimistic. no bruising. and the leg wasn’t warm to the touch. both very good signs. overall it’s certainly not great. but it could have been a lot worse.

though i’m not happy ~ at. all. ~ i guess now is as good a time as any to have something like this happen. the weather is miserably hot. there are no races on the horizon. and if i behave ~ listen to the body and do this right ~ i shouldn’t be down long. a few days on crutches. swim is ok now. bike by this weekend maybe. run … i suppose i should be able to walk first before i attempt that huh?

Ok first, 18 mile bike/4 mile run brick? You seriously rock!

I’m really glad it isn’t worse. Take care of yourself, get yourself swimming in the pool, and maybe *after some healing time* get back out there in your vibrams. You’ve been in a lot worse of a spot before, and I have no doubt you’ll get back out there in no time.
