rings ‘n things with the hunter
tuesday off
wednesday gym with slowandsteady
thursday 2.5 mile run/walk with sab and the dog
friday off
saturday off
sunday off

can you say lazy? what a ridiculous excuse of a week. one gym day with slowandsteady. one not-so-fast short run/walk with the kid and our pup. and one ~ thankfully hard as hell ~ workout with the hunter.

go ahead and laugh and make it as perverted as my facebook friends did, but a few months back the hunter bought and hung gymnastics rings in his bedroom to use as a supplemental workout. and no, they aren’t hung above the bed. and no, there’s no swinging from them by my ankles. they are truly an amazing addition to any home gym! imagine holding yourself up trying to do dips. the arm strength not just in the dip but in holding your balance. picture pushups and pullups from a low plank incline. every move not just in the arms but in the core. by far the best (g-rated ;)) workout i’ve had in a long, long time!

i won’t beat myself up too much over the minimal. i knew the weekend would be light with the not-so-good-for-me part of gasparilla on the calendar. it’s an event not just about the races though that ~ of course ~ is my favorite part. this weekend was pirates and beads and lots of booze. i had hoped for a recovery anything on sunday but my aging body apparently no longer bounces back from 12 full hours of drinking. but now that’s out of the way and the social calendar here on out looks light on potential over-indulgence. and with a mere five weeks until the real gasparilla fun i better figure out how the hell i’m going to run a total of 16.2 miles over two days when thus far my entire annual mileage falls under 10. but both races i’m doing should be “easy”. pacing sab in the 5k on saturday. pacing the bunny in the half on sunday. i was going to run for me on sunday but there’s no hope of a pr. there’s no hope of a sub-2. so instead i’ve opted to take the bunny to her best of sub 2:30. just hoping i can even manage that.

honestly though, i don’t care how slow i go. all i really want is the bling! there’s a new medal for the half this year and i. want. it.
