the calm before the storm

last week was
monday
gym with slowandsteady
tuesday off
wednesday off
thursday off
friday 5 mile run ~ the bay with the ironman
saturday off
sunday 9 mile run ~ UTBT with the thinker and the european

last week was a light workout week. it was sab’s spring break and her grandmother was in town. not my mom. my ex’s. but i still carved out a night to have dinner with her and keep the peace i make sure sab sees in our typical all american dysfunction. i also just kind of needed to breath and process what i’ve done. i have no regret registering for augusta but i’m totally freaked out! a half ironman. can i really do this? thankfully the european held true to his word and registered a couple days after i did. so at least i know i won’t be going it alone! supposedly the ironman is in as well ~ though he has yet to register ~ and i am so crazy excited to have found out last night the b3 is considering it as well. i miss running with her so much and doing a half iron together was always a dream shared.

i’m in the midst of researching training plans and looking at gear i’ll need. i’m pretty sure i’m going with a 16-week plan which gives me a couple months to slowly start implementing the swim and the run back into my workouts. by the time my official training starts i hope to have a pretty good base of all three disciplines and a good idea of how and where i can fit everything into my often less than flexible free time. of course i also have to be ready for my sprint tri in june but i’m not so worried about that one. at least not from a training and ability standpoint.

i’m an anxious excited nervous wreck but i think i’m ready for this. i need to reawaken the goal driven athlete that i know still exists within.
