april goals

i’ve never been one to make goals. well that’s not quite true. i make large-scale goals that take months to achieve like run a marathon, set a new PR or now ~ god help me ~ race my first half ironman. but i fail to make short-term, life-balancing, simple goals that help keep me grounded and in the now. but those goals are likely as important ~ if not more so ~ than the epic ones. so after reading the bride’s post today, i’m inspired to give this monthly goal thing a shot. so here goes …

my april goals:

  • create my official augusta training plan (hahaha. my first goal STILL had to be related to the big one!)
  • let down all defenses and celebrate my one year anniversary with the hunter with an open mind and an open heart.
  • on days when we aren’t together call (not just text) the hunter at least once a week.
  • finish all planning, including buying and wrapping presents, for sab’s birthday party by april 13 (her party is the 28th).
  • write a letter to a friend. not a card. not an email. not a text. but an honest-to-goodness letter.
  • go one full day without getting on facebook (this one will be hard)
  • wake up early two mornings a week to get in a morning workout even if it’s just a quick set of push-ups, crunches and planks.
  • no snitching out of the various candy bowls around the office … except on fridays 🙂 gotta’ have a cheat day!
  • let sab ~ and myself for that matter ~ eat ice cream for breakfast one morning.
  • have one girl’s night even if it’s just a quick happy hour (already have one planned if i can actually stick to it!)

that’s all i can come up with for now. i could add more workout ones. X amount of mileage in the swim, bike or run but those will all be addressed in the training plan. no doubt the little things i need to work on are related more to my personal life and relationships.

Yes! I think life balancing goals can just be a good reminder every once in a while to step back from the epic goals, and look at the everyday things.

    My favorite: 🙂
let down all defenses and celebrate my one year anniversary with the hunter with an open mind and an open heart.

The one I think I need to try too:
go one full day without getting on facebook (this one will be hard)

The one I really want to try, but fear I’m setting myself up for failure:
wake up early two mornings a week to get in a morning workout even if it’s just a quick set of push-ups, crunches and planks.
