last week was

monday off
tuesday 12/2 brick (12 mile ride. two mile run) ~ island with the euro
wednesday 4 mile run ~ solo to UT
thursday off
friday 1 mile pool swim ~ approximately 34 minutes
saturday  24 mile ride ~ island solo
sunday yoga x … well half of it. that stuff is intense!

totals
swim 1 mile  bike 36 miles  run 6 miles

last week would have been ideal had i stuck to my sunday morning long run plan. but after letting sab sleep in and accepting that my calf wasn’t feeling ideal i opted to take an extra down day. and the tuesday brick was supposed to be a little longer on the run but i had to pick up sab earlier than expected after the volleyball team got crushed in the championship finals. she didn’t make the team this year. but she volunteers to work with the coach on scoring and other behind the scenes duties. all in all i’m happy with the week. i’m a strong runner so that’s the least of my worries. but i need the time in saddle and the time in the water and i found time for both.

i did get one bit of bad news this week. there is a very good chance that the euro is not going to be able to do augusta. so there goes my training and race partner. it’s not definite yet but it looks like he’ll have a family obligation that he can’t miss. he says he’ll still train with me. to pretend like he’s still in. but fact is without it i know he won’t push to get in the extra workout or the long rides that i can’t afford to skip. i don’t blame him. it just sucks. but the good news is that b3 is a definite! or at least so she says. she hasn’t registered yet but she swears she’s in and i don’t doubt her commitment. i just wish she was still here so we could train together. damn i miss that girl!

besides the calf flare up i feel pretty good. mentally at least. physically i still battle but i’m wrapping my brain around this whole thing and i feel confident. i’m still panicky about dunedin and i started to freak on the augusta swim after a friend pointed out that there are alligators aplenty in the savannah river but i can’t let the fear paralyze me.

four weeks until dunedin.
22 weeks until augusta.

Ugh a training partner is ideal, unfortunate that b2 lives so far away. it’s hard to really motivate and push eachother but maybe you can still try to even with the distance.

I will swim in an ocean with sharks but a river with alligators gives me the chills!
