binge and purge

i’ve never been one to clean up facebook. if you’re on the friend list it’s for a reason. typically because (here’s a shocker) you’re my friend. but admittedly there are those that are a little cliche as to why they are there… my momma always told me to keep my friends close and my enemies closer. but last night i binged a little on the vodka. ran away from home and tried to escape all the fears and failures i don’t know how to let go of. and somehow purging the facebook friend list seemed an odd but effective place to start. i trashed the friend who threw me under the bus 10 years ago when she got busted for threatening her then man’s ex wife ~ who happened to be a coworker of mine! i deleted the one who likes to share your secrets … with everyone. then this one and that one and another for good measure. when all was said and done i maybe only deleted 15 people but strangely a weight was lifted. i like facebook. like knowing how my friends are even when i may not have the time to check in as often as i want. i like seeing where those i knew back when have paved paths to. and i like the network potential. no deleting those that may be able to scratch my back some day if i scratch theirs. but i think facebook had become another way of holding on. harboring. staying stuck with places and faces that weren’t a healthy facet of my life. farewell facebook foes.
